This model went on sale in Great Britain in 1982 as the E1600, only a year before it was replaced by the next generation. In Australia rebadged versions were sold as the Ford Econovan, and luxury oriented passenger models were sold under the Ford Spectron name as high roof eight seaters. It also formed the basis for the long running Kia Bongo range. The Bongo was also known as the Ford Econovan and Eunos Cargo, and it has been built with rear, middle and front mounted engines.
