In 1982 production of the Taunus ceased in Europe, and it was replaced by the Ford Sierra. The Taunus TC3 was the last of the European line, and the Argentinian and Turkish production of the Taunus carried on for several more years. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford.
