The Impala coupe and wagon body styles were dropped after 1982. From then on the Impala was reduced to a base full size sedan, popular with fleets, with the Caprice continuing as the more upscale line. With the coupe and wagon gone, the Impala sedan was left as the base model of the Chevrolet full size range, available with the V6 or a 267 or 305 cubic inch V8. Impala sedans of this period were popular with fleets, including taxi and police pursuit use.
