The 1981 Fifth Avenues added two new exterior colors, Mahogany Starmist and Heather Mist, with Nightwatch Blue as a third choice, and the Fifth Avenue trim package now cost 2,092 dollars on a 10,459 dollar retail price. No coupe was offered because Chrysler reintroduced the Imperial name as a coupe only, and the Fifth Avenue shared its appearance with the Imperial coupe. The early 1980s recession was beginning to affect sales.
