For 1980 a second exterior color was offered called Black Walnut metallic, with a simulated alligator grain landau vinyl roof in matching Black Walnut and gold accent stripes, while the Champagne leather interior remained the only choice. Overall production of the R body New Yorkers was low, less than 75,000 over 1979 through 1981, and Fifth Avenue production was approximately a quarter of them. In 1980 a separate ASC package also put Fifth Avenue features on 654 LeBarons.
