The rare 1980 Malibu M80 was a dealer package sold only in North and South Carolina, aimed mostly at NASCAR fans who regularly traveled to Darlington Raceway. The package added front and rear spoilers and steel rally wheels that were taken from the 1980 Monte Carlo. The Malibu of 1980 was still sold in Mexico, where it was built at the Ramos Arizpe plant for the region from 1979 to 1981. The 9C1 police version of the Malibu, which had moved over from the Nova in 1979, was still sold.
