For 1979 all F-Series models used rectangular headlamps, with bezels available in either black or chrome to match the aluminum grille frame. It was the last year of the sixth generation, the third and final generation of trucks derived from the 1965 F-Series, which was built in North America, Argentina and Australia. The 1977 to 1979 Free-Wheelin option package continued to offer a sporty appearance on pickups.
