The seventh generation F-Series, introduced for 1980, offered the standard cab and the SuperCab extended cab, with several functional upgrades including a column mounted ignition switch and an interior mounted hood release. The four door crew cab was dropped from the line, and a new Six Wheeler dual rear wheel option was introduced for the standard cab F-350 pickup. It was the first complete redesign since the 1965 model year, with the flatter panels that gave it the nickname bullnose.
