The van was a body on frame vehicle that was common as a cutaway chassis for ambulances, buses and recreational vehicles, built at Ohio Assembly and Lorain. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis.
