In April 1976 the third generation Minicab was introduced. In keeping with changes in vehicle tax regulations, the Minicab 5, the L012, grew in length and used the enlarged 471 cc Vulcan S engine from the passenger car line, with the same maximum power as the old 360. It added a windscreen defroster, a central console box and a central ventilation system. Just under 210,000 second generation Minicabs had been built. The Minicab was sold in Japan at a specific retail chain called Galant Shop.
