For 1975 the engine lineup was revised, as all Ford and Mercury intermediates dropped the inline six and the 302 V8, so that a 351 V8 became the standard engine, with optional 400 and 460 V8s. The 1975 Montego was a Mercury intermediate in the fourth year of its second generation, a counterpart of the Ford Torino, in a lineup that included the Montego MX and Brougham. It could be had with 351, 400 and 460 cubic inch V8 engines.
