Exports, Kia's first, began with a shipment of 31 Brisa B-1000 pickups to Qatar in 1975. The Grand Familia was also built by Kia with the 1272 cc engine from October 1975, originally as the Brisa II and later as the K303. In Japan the third generation Familia Presto was in its third year, a rear wheel drive small car that Mazda also sold abroad as the 808 and 818. The Familia name means family in Latin. Mazda built the Familia at its Hiroshima plant and also assembled it from knock down kits in several countries.
