Four wheel disc brakes were fitted to the Landau of 1975 and to the LTD, making them the first Australian built cars with that feature. The Landau shared its grille and spoked wheel covers with the 1972 Thunderbird, and it had no direct rival in the Australian market. It shared its running gear with the XB Falcon GT hardtop and its look with the P5 LTD limousine. The Landau was a luxury version of the Falcon hardtop built by Ford Australia in the mid 1970s.
