With the introduction of the second generation Sprinter Trueno and Corolla Levin in April 1974 there was a clearer difference between the two through design. The coupes then had the TE37 and TE47 chassis codes. This was the first model year of the Toyota Sprinter Trueno (TE37 to TE65 series), 1974 to 1978, which took over from the Toyota Sprinter Trueno (TE27 series); the 1975 model year follows it.
