The fifth generation was launched in 1974 in Japan, with exports following in 1975. Its pillared hardtop with the Royal Saloon package was the most exclusive Crown and an alternative to the Nissan Cedric and Gloria. This was the first model year of the Toyota Crown (fifth generation, S80 to S100), 1974 to 1978, which took over from the Toyota Crown (fourth generation, S60 and S70); the 1975 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Crown run from 1955 to 2026.
