For 1974 Plymouth replaced the 340 with a 360 cubic inch V8 detuned to meet new emission rules, rated at 245 horsepower. A separate Duster 360 model was offered, with the 360, dual exhaust, power disc brakes, tape stripes, heavier suspension and a sway bar, of which 3,969 were built, most with automatic transmissions. The E58 360 engine used the camshaft, heads, intake manifold, carburetor and dual exhaust of the 340 it replaced, which kept the performance of the old engine in spite of the emission rules.
