The Taunus was produced in Argentina from 1974, when Ford Argentina began to build a version of the Taunus TC, and it was made there until the end of 1984. In Germany the TC of 1974 was a sedan, a wagon and a coupe, with the same bodyshell as the Cortina Mk III with different door skins. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford.
