The first Statesman cars were introduced in 1971 as the HQ series Statesman, replacing the short lived Holden Brougham, and were based on the mainstream Holden range of the Belmont, Kingswood, Monaro and Premier, offering more luxury and additional length. Although designed for the Australian market, the front end styling bears a strong resemblance to the 1971 North American Chevrolet Caprice. This page belongs to the Holden Statesman model on its Holden make page, and it links to the generation and the neighbouring model years so that the whole run of the model can be followed in order.
