For 1971 Chrysler introduced the Valiant Scamp, a two door hardtop identical to the Swinger with a Valiant front clip, and the Dart got new smaller quad taillamps used through 1973. The custom hardtop became the Swinger and the standard Swinger the Swinger Special. Dodge also received its own version of the Plymouth Duster, which was to be called the Beaver but was renamed the Dart Demon. The name Beaver was dropped before the car went on sale.
