The final model year for the Falcon in North America was 1970, with a short run of cars identical to the 1969 version built through the end of December 1969, none of them with the locking steering column that was standard on other 1970 Fords. It appears that all Falcons bore the Futura name this year. After the shortened 1970 model year, the Ford Maverick replaced it, and the Falcon name returned as a mid year 1970½ entry level intermediate.
