The 1970 Super Bee received a redesign and a new front end with a twin looped bumper that Dodge's publicists called bumblebee wings. Sales fell from 15,506 in 1970 to 5,054 in 1971, with the new look, insurance surcharges and a wider choice of Dodge performance cars all blamed. It was the last year the Super Bee used the Coronet body. Production of the 1970 Super Bee was 15,506 cars, against about 27,800 built in 1969, so output fell by almost half in the model's third season.
