The Colt 1500 ended its sales in December 1969 with the start of sales of the Colt Galant, and the line was cut back to the 1200 only. The Colt 1000 line of 1969 was thus in its seventh year, in the form of the Colt 1200, a four door sedan with a 1.2 liter engine and the body of the 1500, a car developed by the Nagoya group and quite different from the Mizushima works cars, the Minica and the Colt 800. The Colt 1000 had a column shifter for its fully synchronized four speed manual transmission.
