In 1968 the 318 replaced the 273 as the smallest V8 and a new four barrel 340 was introduced, while the 383 was upgraded with parts from the Road Runner and Super Bee. Chrysler also built about fifty fastback Barracudas with the 426 Hemi for Super Stock drag racing, assembled by Hurst with fiberglass and lightweight parts. Round side marker lamps and backup lights in the taillamp housings mark the year.
