Yamaha began building the 2000GT in 1967, two years after its Tokyo show debut. Road and Track reviewed a pre production car that year and called it one of the most exciting and enjoyable cars it had driven, comparing it favorably with the Porsche 911. The car also won the 24 Hours of Fuji and the Fuji 1000 Kilometres in 1967. This was the first model year of the Toyota 2000GT (single generation, MF10), 1967 to 1970, the first generation covered for the Toyota 2000GT; the 1968 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota 2000GT run from 1967 to 1970.
