The high performance GTX was added to the line for 1967, the year the Belvedere served as the standard LAPD police cruiser in the pilot episode of the television show Adam 12. The Belvedere I, Belvedere II and Satellite subseries continued after the 1966 restyle, and Belvederes were used in police service from the late 1960s to the early 1970s, when the Plymouth Gran Fury replaced them, notably in Los Angeles and New York.
