The Carol of 1967 was in its sixth year, a rear engined four cylinder kei sedan with a 358 cc engine and a fully synchronized four speed gearbox, with the spare tire in the engine room after the facelift of the autumn before. It was the one four seat Mazda kei car, and the Mazda R360 coupe had already gone out of full production. The Carol weighed in at 525 kg, versus 380 kg for the diminutive R360. The Carol complemented the three-wheeled Mazda Mazdago.
