The 1966 Barracuda received new taillamps, new front sheet metal and a new instrument panel with room for oil pressure and tachometer gauges, and a center console became optional for the first time. Plymouth also wanted buyers to see it as a distinct model, so the Valiant script was dropped and a Barracuda fish emblem took its place, though in Canada and South Africa it stayed badged as the Valiant Barracuda.
