The 1966 Chevy IIs introduced an extensive sharp edged restyle based in part on the Super Nova concept car, with humped fenders on an angular rear end reminiscent of the larger 1966 Chevrolets, vertical taillights and single headlights. Wheel covers were inherited from the 1965 Malibu SS, and the front and rear emblems of the performance model displayed Chevy II SS, a badge that would change to Nova SS in 1967.
