The Carol of 1965 was in its fourth year as an overengineered little car, with a very strong monocoque body, a four cylinder four stroke engine with a five bearing crankshaft and four wheel independent suspension by torsion bars. That led to high costs and weight, though it was still a success on the market, with a four speed gearbox synchronized on its top three gears. The Carol was more substantial than the R360. The Carol weighed in at 525 kg, versus 380 kg for the diminutive R360.
