In 1965 the 289 cubic inch V8 replaced the discontinued 260 and an alternator replaced the generator in all Ford cars. 1965 marked the final year of sedan delivery production, and thus the last year of the Falcon based Ranchero. It used the same basic body style as 1964, a little larger than the first Falcon Rancheros, and was a compact coupe utility. The Falcon based second generation Ranchero was sold from 1960 to 1965.
