The 1965 Galaxie was an all new design with vertically stacked dual headlights, taller and bulkier than the year before. The top models were the Galaxie 500 LTD and the 500 XL, accessory upgrades from the base car. A new 240 cubic inch six replaced the 1950s 223 Mileage Maker, and the rear leaf springs gave way to a three link coil sprung system. The interior had a new instrument panel, and a two key system for valet parking.
