For 1965 the 170 cubic inch six became the standard engine of the Econoline, with a 240 cubic inch six as an option. A Super Van with an extended length body was introduced that year, and the bigger engine intruded slightly into the cargo bed of the pickup, which was offered in a Spring Special trim. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis.
