General Motors, Chrysler, American Motors and Toyota would adopt a configuration like that of Ford wagon rear gates by the end of the 1960s. The Country Sedan of 1965 had the self storing window gate, and was a mid trim wagon in the redesigned full size Ford line. It was the cheaper wagon beside the woodgrain Country Squire and outsold the Squire in every year. The Country Sedan was the mid trim station wagon of the full size Ford range, with plain body sides.
