For 1963 and 1964 the Max Wedge 413 was supplanted by the 426 Wedge engine, with power increased to 415 or 425 horsepower, in a Savoy that was sold with the intent of being a competition car only in that form. The redesigned Savoy lineup of 1962 otherwise carried on, from the Economy 6 up to the top V8s, as the entry level full size Plymouth sold to fleet buyers such as taxi companies and police departments.
