The 12M P4 of 1963 was the first Ford car with front wheel drive, followed by the Ford Corcel and the Ford Fiesta. It had a 1.2 litre engine of 40 PS or a 1.5 litre of 50 to 65 PS and a top speed of up to 144 kilometres per hour. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations.
