The Mazda Carol was launched in February 1962 as the P360, a more grown up two door sedan that complemented the R360 and was the first four passenger car of the company. A DeLuxe version followed in May 1962 with a changed angle of the rear window to keep it clean, and a larger Carol 600 appeared in the fall. The Carol took 67 percent of the kei market in its first year. The Carol weighed in at 525 kg, versus 380 kg for the diminutive R360.
