For 1962 the production of the entire Mercury Econoline line returned to Oakville in Canada, after the pickup had been moved to Ohio late in 1961. The 1962 Econoline was a forward control van with its engine behind the front axle, a 90 inch wheelbase and a flat load floor. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014.
