The Econoline was released for the 1961 model year on 21 September 1960, as a single replacement for the Ford panel delivery and the sedan delivery Courier. It was a forward control van on the Falcon with the engine between the front seats, and came as a cargo van, a passenger van and a pickup. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis.
