The 1961 Consul Mark II remained the four cylinder submodel of the Zephyr range, with a larger 1703 cc engine and a complete restyle that borrowed cues from the American Thunderbird and Fairlane. A Consul convertible by Carbodies was available, and the Australian market had coupe utility and estate versions. The Consul Classic and Consul Capri would soon join the Consul name as smaller cars. The Consul Mark II was the four cylinder car in the Zephyr range and shared its body shell with the Zephyr and Zodiac.
