In 1962 the Consul was replaced by the Zephyr 4, as the mid range Zephyr became the Zephyr 6 and the top of the range Zephyr Zodiac was called just the Zodiac. At this point Consul became the name of a range of smaller cars in its own right, initially the Consul Classic and Consul Capri. The Mark II Consul ended after being produced from 1956 and it was manufactured by Ford of Britain until 1962. The Consul Mark II was the four cylinder car in the Zephyr range and shared its body shell with the Zephyr and Zodiac.
