A 1960 Ford Consul Mark II was the taxi in which American singer Eddie Cochran died, and not, as many have stated, a London hackney cab. The Consul Mark II was by then a four cylinder car with a 1703 cc, 59 horsepower engine, sharing its body shell with the Zephyr, and with a lowered lowline roof and revised rear lights. The Consul Mark II was the four cylinder car in the Zephyr range and shared its body shell with the Zephyr and Zodiac.
