In 1959 a Silver Challenger model was also offered on the Coronet, a limited edition two door club sedan in silver paint only that was the first car to carry the Challenger name. The 1959 Coronet continued to use the DeSoto Fireflite chassis with the 230 six or 326 V8, and this was the last Coronet until 1965. The Silver Challenger came only in silver paint on a 122 inch wheelbase, a 217.4 inch two door club sedan priced at $2,297 with the six or $2,408 with the V8.
