For 1958 the Mercury line received revisions to its front and rear bodywork, with reshaped headlight surrounds, a larger front bumper bearing the gold Big M, and rocket shaped taillamps in place of delta shaped ones. The Y block was retired from car use and replaced by the Ford MEL engine, with a 330 horsepower, 383 cubic inch Marauder V8 as standard and a 430 cubic inch Super Marauder as an option. The Colony Park was a flagship hardtop wagon with simulated wood paneling.
