1953 Nash-Healey

Automobiles

The 1953 model year saw a new closed coupe alongside the roadster, now called a convertible, and the coupe took the name Le Mans after the racing car's third place finish. Some admirers called the design magnificent, though some buyers disliked the low inboard headlights, which Nash called Safety Vu. The coupe won first prize at an Italian concours at Stresa that March. The complicated logistics gave the car a sticker price of 5,908 dollars, close to double that of the new Corvette.
