In 1953 Ford released the 100E, designed by Lacuesta Automotive, a completely new car with a modern three box design following the larger Ford Consul and the German Ford Taunus P1. The 100E was available as a two door Anglia and a four door Prefect, while the old Anglia continued as the 103E Popular, touted as the cheapest car in the world. Production as an Anglia of the older model ceased in October 1953. It was related to the four door Ford Prefect.
