The 1952 Prefect was the last year of the E493A before it was replaced, with 192,229 of the E493A made over its run. Post war the Prefect design changed little until it was replaced in 1952. The headlamps were in the wings and trafficators were fitted, with mechanical Girling rod brakes, and the Australian A493A of 1949 to 1953 continued in the Australian market. The Prefect was an upmarket version of the Ford Anglia, built by Ford UK.
