1952 Austin Champ

Automobiles

A civilian version of the Champ was priced at 750 pounds in November 1952. The military Champ had 24 volt electrics made to agreements reached in 1948 with the American and Canadian armies, with standard military equipment supplied by Lucas, CAV, Delco-Remy and Simms. The Land Rover was already in army service, having entered it as early as 1949, and could do about eighty percent of the jobs of the Champ at half the price.
