The Pilot was effectively replaced in 1951 by the Zephyr Six and the Consul from Ford UK, though V8 Pilots were still on sale and were gradually withdrawn during that year. In its production run 22,155 cars were made, since it began in August 1947. It was built by Ford UK and was the first large post war car of the company in Britain. The Pilot was a British Ford of the late 1940s with a V8 engine and an old fashioned chassis.
