A twin exhaust system was standard on the Pilot of 1950, which gave it a quality sound, and the 3622 cc engine developed 81 horsepower with a single Solex carburettor. It had wheels with a wide stud pattern, the same as those on 1936 to 1939 American cars. The Pilot was a British Ford of the late 1940s with a V8 engine and an old fashioned chassis. It was built by Ford UK and was the first large post war car of the company in Britain.
