1949 Nash Ambassador

Automobiles

The all new Airflyte unibody design arrived for 1949 with no convertible, replacing the earlier separate frame chassis with true unit construction that the company said used eight thousand welds and was far more rigid than conventional cars. The Ambassador kept its 121 inch wheelbase. It was the first year for a one piece curved windshield and curved glass front wing windows, and Nash made the Airflyte seats recline fully so the interior could serve as a bed.
